The Everlasting Rock

“You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD your God is an everlasting rock.” Isaiah 26:3-4

If there was ever a verse that God has consistently used to get my attention, this would probably be it.  It’s definitely not the only one, but He has definitely used it to speak to me a number times…which probably speaks to the fact that so many times I get worked up over things and forget how faithful God is…how He always comes through. We just need to trust and remember His promises. Sounds simple enough, but it gets me every time.

God has been doing some interesting things lately, and I’ve been feeling His peace on some things that I haven’t felt peaceful about in a while. I think the difference is now instead of trusting in my own power and wisdom (or lack thereof) to make certain decisions, God is enabling me to turn those things over to Him. I have also been reminded, and take comfort in the fact that God is sovereign, and already stands at the ends our lives. He’s already there. And He’ll be with us for every part.

Proverbs 16:9- “The heart of a man plans his way, but the LORD establishes his steps.”

Ephesians 2:10 “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”

Those are beautiful promises.

So while this was more along the lines of rant than organized thoughts, I guess the moral of the story is that, while it seems like it’s easier to feel anxiety and worried over the things that are unsure, God promises us perfect peace when we trust in Him, and put our minds on him. And it only makes sense that we do that, because our God is sovereign, in control, always there, knows every decision we will make, and where He will take us.
